Cardiac Myocytes
The largest group of IonOptix users are investigators who study cardiac myocytes and want information about contractility parameters and the associated calcium transients. Our aim is to offer you a complete recording system for these experiments.
Once the system is installed, the experiments are rather simple to execute. When we install the system in your lab, we do the first measurements on day one. By day two of the training you should be able to do your experiments independently. However, there are a lot of potential pitfalls in setting up and performing the experiments and there are little things you can do to make your experimental life easier. This can be related to operation of the software, the cell chamber, heating and perfusion, experimental set-up, fluorescence, etcetera. For this reason we are in the process of writing a number of application notes. The first ones are listed below.
This is by no means an exhaustive list, especially because we are still in the process of putting it together. If there are things you would like to see added, please let us know. A lot of the information in the application notes is general, and where possible references will be provided. Other information in these notes is based on personal experience in the labs where we have set up calcium measuring systems. Feel free to disagree with those findings, but then let me know what your experience is, so that it can be added to the notes.
